6/18/54 32 NEW SUBMINIATURE TRANSFORMERS ANNOUNCED

A completely new 32-model line of subminiature transformers especially

designed for transistor and other miniaturized circuit application is being introduced by Texas Instruments Incorporated, a leading transistor and electromechanical equipment manufacturer.

This transformer line is among

the most complete yet announced in the subminiature size range.

Dimensions on the 32 transformers rang e from 3/8 x 3/8 x 11/32 inch to 3 /4 x 7 /8 x 1 inch, with power capabilities ra nging from less than one milliwatt to over 100 m:i.Hiwatts.

These t ransfo rmers are suitable for use in

the audio and ultrasonic frequency ranges.

They are supplied in four different

sized series , with each series having input, i nterstage , choke, and output models.

In addition, each of the 16 basic units is manufactured in both open

type and cast construction.

The smallest of the four series is particularly de signed for transistorized hearing aid use.

The 16 cast models in the four series are equipped

with flat surfaces to further facilitate product miniaturi zation by glueing into position where de sired.

Texas Instruments has long made transformers, filters, pulse networks, and capacitors for use in specialized geophys ical and airborne electronic equipment.

and enamelled wire ranging in thickness down to one and a half mils ( thousandths of an inch) , the completed transformer measures less than three -eighths of a.n inch cubed in the smallest series.

While tiny , the transformers are not fragile, being especially designed for durability in field usage. 0

All 32 models will operate satisfactorily over the 0

setting resin) models are particularly resistant to extreme ambient conditions of moisture and other contaminants.

construction are also protected against environmental factors by means of a resin coating.

TEXAS INSTRUMENTS ESTABLISHES NEW GEOPHYSICAL SUBSIDIARY

DALLAS, Texas, July 12 -- J. E. Jonsson, president of Texas Instruments Incorporated, today announced the establishment of a new wholly-owned subsidiary, Geophysical Service (Nederland) N. V . , to conduct geophysical exploration for petroleum in Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Headquarters for

the new company will be in The Hague, Netherlands. The new company is also an associate of Geophysical Service Inc., Dallas .

F . J . Agnich, executive vice president of GSI, also will be

managing director of Geophysical Service (Nederland) N. V. Johnson will be resident director.

Curtis H .

Mr. Johnson, a past president of the

Society of Exploration Geophysicists and a widely-known authority on marine seismograph exploration, leaves the United States today to establish the Netherlands office.

If the parts are a "first run,"

an actual size LEROY lettered tracing is made from the part drawing on matted

acetate (see Fig. 1). Thil acetate drawing la used as the positive to make the photo­ stencil. A plywood frame and, lf nece••ary, a holding fixture is then made in

the woodworking shop (see Fig. 2).

Corporatio n, an investment company of Wilmington , Delaware, and 10,000 shares to Diversified Growth Stock Fund, Inc . of Elizabeth, New Jersey. Eugene McDermott , Chairman of the Board and Cecil H . Green, Vice President, each sold 16,667 shares to The Pennroad Corporatio n and J.E. Jonsson, President, sold 16, 66 6 shares.

Also, Eugene

TEXAS INSTRUMENTS NOW PRODUCING 5 TYPES OF SILICON TRANSISTORS

Expansion of its exclusive line of silicon transistors from three to five types is announced by Texas Instruments Inc orporated.

High volume p r odu ction of t he

revolutionary new silicon transistor has made possible the addition of two more models to the line• one w ith an alpha ( current amplification factor) of 0. 975 or better and one with an alpha cutoff frequency of 8 megacycles or better. Since Texas Instruments i ntroduced t he high temperature, high frequency silicon transistor in May, strong demand has n ecessitated continual increases in production capacity.

TI states that c urre nt production capacity allows deliveries

of silicon transistors in unlimited quantity. Grown junction silicon t rans istors operate with little change at 150°C (302°F) compared to an equivalent limit of 65°C (1 49°F ) for germanium transistors. Average a l pha c ut off frequency is 3 m. c. for thr ee of the types, with alpha guaranteed to be from O. 90 to O. 95 with T y pe 903, 0. 95 t o 0. 975 w ith Type 904, and 0. 975 or better with Type 905.

T y pe 904A has an alpha cutoff freq uency

of 8 ~m.c. or b etter and an alpha of 0 . 95 or better.

The Type X -15 large signal

unit gives a power gain of 14 d b. with collector d iss ipatio n of 1 watt in C lass B operation. Texa.s Instruments reports that fi eld experience gained s o far with silicon transistors indicates that they have great potential in many fields, including
